Dr. Pravin Hanumant Shinde is a highly experienced Consultant General & Laparoscopic Surgeon with over 20 years of surgical experience and a strong academic background. He is currently serving as a Professor in the Department of General Surgery at Seth GS Medical College & KEM Hospital, Mumbai, where he is actively involved in patient care, surgical training, teaching, and research.

Known for his patient-friendly approach and surgical expertise, Dr. Shinde specializes in advanced laparoscopic and minimally invasive procedures that help patients recover faster with minimal pain and shorter hospital stays. His areas of expertise include gastrointestinal surgery, hernia surgery, colorectal surgery, gall bladder and appendix surgery, thyroid surgery, breast surgery, abdominal wall reconstruction, varicose veins treatment, and skin & soft tissue procedures.

Dr. Shinde completed his MBBS from MGM Medical College, Navi Mumbai, followed by DNB in General Surgery from the prestigious KEM Hospital, Pune. He further enhanced his surgical skills through fellowships including F.IAGES and FISCP. Throughout his career, he has been associated with reputed institutions such as KEM Hospital Mumbai and KBBH Kurla, gaining extensive experience in both emergency and elective surgeries.

Apart from his clinical practice, Dr. Shinde is actively involved in national and international surgical conferences, live workshops, and research activities. He has authored multiple publications in reputed medical journals and is a member of several prestigious surgical associations including the Association of Surgeons of India (ASI), International Hernia Collaboration, and ISCP.

Professional Experience

  • Worked as Surgical Resident at KEM Hospital, Pune from 2006 to 2009, managing patients, assisting in surgeries, and participating in academic conferences.
  • Served as Registrar at KBBH, Kurla, performing independent emergency, elective, open, and laparoscopic surgeries.
  • Worked as Assistant Professor at KEM Hospital, Mumbai for over 10 years, handling surgical in-patients, acute care services, and teaching UG/PG students.
  • Experienced in advanced laparoscopic and oncological procedures with active involvement in CMEs and departmental conferences.
  • Currently serving as Associate Professor at KEM Hospital, Mumbai since February 2021.
